The Quran is considered by Muslims to be the Word of God as spoken in the Arabic language to the Prophet Muhammad through the Archangel Gabriel. This Quran manuscript was owned and annotated by Tipu Sultan whose library included at least 44 Qurans. It was presented to George III in 1807 by Charles Wilkins, Librarian to the East India Company.
