MARCO RICCI (BELLUNO 1676-VENICE 1730)
Landscape with a Woman and Child in the Foreground
c.1725-30RCIN 406989
Marco Ricci was principally a landscape artist, and the mountainous countryside around his home town of Belluno in the Dolomites was a source of inspiration throughout his life. Part of a set of four late works, this painting and its pair displayed to the right, are Marco’s highest achievement in landscape painting. Both are carefully composed yet strikingly real with subtle transitions of light.
