HARCY AMIES; FREDERICK FOX

Coat, dress and hat

1986

RCIN 250359

Worn on the occasion of The Queen’s 60th birthday, 21 April 1986. The Queen attended a birthday parade during which 6,000 children lined the Mall and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ and waved bunches of daffodils. This bright yellow ensemble reflected the yellow of the children’s daffodils and consists of a tailored coat, pleated from the shoulders and a matching dress with an asymmetric bodice and pleated skirt. Frederick Fox’s matching beret-style is trimmed with a contrasting white ribbon and stylised camellia.
