Frederica, 'Lily', Princess of Hanover, elder daughter of George V, King of Hanover, and Marie, daughter of Joseph, Duke of Saxe-Altenburg. Her marriage in 1880 to her father's secretary, Baron Alfons von Pawel-Rammingen, a union to which her family were initially opposed, was conducted with the support of Queen Victoria in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle. The Queen gave the couple an apartment at Hampton Court which they occupied until 1898; they later lived in Biarritz where the Baroness died in 1926. Their only daughter died in infancy.Provenance
