A man sits, his right arm slung across the back of his chair holding a long clay pipe in his hand; he looks up towards a serving girl, wearing a low-cut dress, who holds a glass and a decanter; a bed in the background.

Purchased by George IV in 1813; recorded in the Prince Regent's Anti Room at Carlton House in 1816 (no 138) and in the Anti Room to the Dining Room in 1819 (no 98); in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace in 1841 (no 155)
