An oil painting depicting a seascape in evening light. A two-funelled, five-masted Royal Navy steamship crosses the composition in the middle ground. On the left, the sea is calm. The dusk sky is animated by seagulls wheeling about, a few birds can also be seen perching on the exposed remains of a wrecked boat, in the lower left foreground.
Millar was a Cornish painter who specialised in dramatic seascapes.Provenance
