The 160-ton yawl ‘Corisande’ was owned by King George V, as Prince of Wales, from 1908-10 and sold to Maldwin Drummond of Cadland who owned her from 1911 to 1922. Here she is depicted sailing to the left in a stiff breeze past a Napoleonic fort in the Solent, with HMY 'Victoria & Albert III' seen in the distance on the right; the mainland coastline beyond. The Prince first sailed her on 16 May 1908 at Cowes. A watercolour of ‘Corisande’ by Branston Freer (active 1870-1915) is in the Royal Collection (RCIN 450057).
