Chico was a Bichon frisé, a small Cuban dog. A dog of this name was buried in the grounds of Adelaide Cottage in Windsor in 1851.
Signed and dated: T M Joy 1845. Inscribed on the back with the names of artist and sitter and the date, 1845.Provenance
Painted for Queen Victoria; recorded hanging in the Kennels at Windsor Castle in 1878
