This is an expanded and differently clothed replica of Liotard's pastel of 1754 (OM 481, 400897); it is in reverse, which suggests that it was copied from a print rather than the original. The sitter is shown within a painted oval, wearing a scarlet jacket with rich gold embroidered facings, the riband and star of the Garter.
