Cat and Dogs belonging to Queen Victoria Signed and dated 1885
Oil on canvas | 35.5 x 53.5 cm (support, canvas/panel/stretcher external) | RCIN 403567
Horn Room, Osborne House
-
Three dogs, a dachsund, a smooth fox-terrier and a pug, in an orchard, gazing at a kitten which is sitting on a kitchen chair.
Presumably painted for Queen Victoria, but not certainly identifiable among the pictures for which the artist was paid in 1885. It is probably the picture recorded at Osborne in 1886 as of a cat with Paul, Vic and Princess. Vic was the fox-terrier.Provenance
