Oil on panel | 21.3 x 29.2 x 0.6 cm (support, canvas/panel/stretcher external) | RCIN 403227
-
Though roughly in the ‘ball-park’ of Paulus Bril this anonymous copper depicts a shaggier more northern terrain, with suggestions of Roelandt Savery.
Provenance
Probably acquired by George III in 1762 as part of the collection of Joseph Smith, British Consul in Venice, though the possible inventory references (Dutch and Flemish list, no 103 or 105) do not correspond precisely.
