This painting is in the style of Monamy and depicts a scene dating from c. 1720. It has been suggested that it is a copy of c. 1800, though this composition does not occur elsewhere in Monamy's work. The painting depicts a calm with a flotilla of battleships; a rowing boat in the left foreground with nine sailors aboard, a ketch to the right; in the left centre an English three decker gun-ship flying the flag of the Admiral of the Red fires a salute.
