Photograph of Major William Reynolds. He is standing facing partly left holding a helmet in his right hand. He is wearing military uniform and riding boats and there is a sword by his side. There is a pair of gloves on the wooden pillar to the left and a curtain draped to the right.
Major William Reynolds commanded the 3rd Scinde Horse Regiment during the Second Anglo-Afghan War. He was killed at Khushk-e-Nakhud in Feburary 1879.
This photograph comes from an album from Queen Victoria’s collection titled 'AFGHANISTAN AND EGYPT PORTRAITS 1879 AND 1882' (RCIN 2501413). The album contains photographs of British soldiers who served in the Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878-80) and Anglo-Egyptian War (1882).
