What is a 1-Year Pass?
Tickets purchased directly from Royal Collection Trust can be converted into a 1-Year Pass, giving 12 months’ complimentary admission to the site(s) you have visited. This pass is valid for a year from the date of your first visit.
How do I convert my ticket into a 1-Year Pass?
Enjoy free re-admission for a year by asking us to treat your ticket purchase as a donation.
1. Before you leave the site, please sign and print your name in the spaces provided on the reverse of your ticket.
2. Hand the ticket to a member of staff, who will stamp and validate it.
3. Retain your ticket for future visits.
Your ticket will only be accepted for re-admission if it has been stamped and signed on the day of your first visit.
What should I do to gain complimentary re-admission on subsequent visits?
Your signed and stamped original ticket (now your 1-Year Pass) must be produced on arrival at the ticket counter to enable you to book an admission ticket. You will also be required to provide proof of signature, such as a passport, driving licence, credit or debit card. You will then be given a complimentary ticket for admission on that day, subject to availability. Children under the age of 18 are not required to show proof of signature.
Alternatively, you may pre-book your subsequent visits by telephoning the Ticket Sales and Information Office, +44 (0)20 7766 7334. Please note that a transaction fee of £2.00 is payable on all telephone bookings. Pre-booked tickets will not be posted to you, but can be collected from the ticket counter on the day of your visit on production of your signed and stamped 1-Year Pass and proof of signature.
Are there any dates on which I am unable to use my 1-Year Pass?
It is not possible to use a 1-Year Pass on the following dates:
Windsor Castle 2015
Buckingham Palace State Rooms, Royal Mews and The Queen’s Gallery 2015
There are no exclusion dates for Clarence House, Palace of Holyroodhouse or The Queen’s Gallery, Palace of Holyroodhouse.
I am buying a combined ticket. Does the ticket for each site I visit need to be signed and stamped?
Yes. In order to gain complimentary re-admission to all of the sites you have visited with a combined ticket, it is necessary to sign the reverse of each ticket issued to you and to have them stamped before you leave.
I am buying the ticket as a gift. Can it still be converted into a 1-Year Pass?
Yes, but in this case it is the recipient of the ticket who benefits, not the purchaser. The recipient can convert their ticket on their first visit as above
Which tickets cannot be converted into a 1-Year Pass?
Tickets for Frogmore House, complimentary tickets and tickets booked through a tour operator or ticket agent cannot be converted into a 1-Year Pass.
I am planning to buy several tickets and visit with friends and family. Can we all convert our tickets into 1-Year Passes?
Yes. If their tickets are eligible for a 1-Year Pass (denoted by the 1 Year Pass symbol), each member of the group should sign the reverse of their ticket on their first visit and have it stamped before they leave the site(s).
If I buy a ticket for an Exclusive Evening Tour, British Sign Language Tour or Verbal Description Tour, can I convert it into a 1-Year Pass?
Yes. If you purchase a ticket directly from Royal Collection Trust, you may convert it into a 1-Year Pass, but your Pass is only valid for day admission to the site, not for a repeat Exclusive Evening, British Sign Language or Verbal Description Tour. Complimentary tickets and tickets booked through a tour operator or ticket agent cannot be converted into a 1-Year Pass.
Once I have converted my ticket into a 1-Year Pass, is it valid for complimentary re-admission every day?
Complimentary re-admission may be unavailable on up to five days each year when the site is open to the public. It is not possible to use your 1-Year Pass when the site is closed. Before planning a visit, please see the Visit pages on to check if any dates are excluded and to confirm admission details.
Can my 1-Year Pass be used by a friend?
The benefits of the 1-Year Pass are not transferable, and your ticket may not under any circumstances be given to another person or re-sold. Any attempted use of the ticket by another party to gain admission automatically renders the ticket void.
Some sites operate timed admission. How will this affect my visit?
For capacity reasons, timed admission is operated at the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace, The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace and at Clarence House. We cannot therefore guarantee admission. Similarly, if there is availability, we cannot guarantee admission at the time of your choice. We strongly recommend that you book your preferred day and time well in advance by telephoning the Ticket Sales and Information Office (a £2.00 telephone booking transaction fee applies) to avoid disappointment.
