Her Majesty the Queen, 1952
Photograph showing three-quarter length formal portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II, seated and facing the viewer. She wears a State Diadem crown and Garter Star with Sash. She holds a closed fan on her lap. Signed and dated. Mounted and framed.
This is one of the best known photographic portraits of The Queen, taken at a sitting in the year of her accession to the throne in 1952. It is an image which, despite her youth, captures an air of regal splendour and authority. The print shown here is housed in a booklet containing ten other formal photographs of The Queen, all taken by Dorothy Wilding at the start of the new reign.
