Restoration medals

These medals commemorate the restoration of Charles II. The first two medals depict the king's embarkation from Scheveningen; the third medal depicts father and son, Charles I and Charles II, emphasising the continuity of the Stuart dynasty; whilst the last medal, struck, by Jan Roettier celebrates Charles II's triumphant arrival in London. It depicts Justice in the centre of an allegorical group with a Latin inscription reading, the 'Happiness of Britain, 29th May 1660'.
