Baron (1906-56) photographed The Queen on a number of occasions, including her wedding day on 20 November 1947. This is one a series of portraits which Baron took of the young Queen at Buckingham Palace in 1953. She is shown wearing the Diamond Diadem, the sash, badge and star of the Order of the Garter, and the Greville Chandelier earrings.

This portrait was released to mark The Queen’s State Visit to France in April 1957. Baron’s photograph emphasises the glamour of the young monarch, who is shown wearing a cream silk evening gown with foliate beaded embroidery designed by Sir Norman Hartnell. The Grand Duchess Vladimir tiara, Queen Mary’s Delhi Durbar necklace and the riband and badge of the Order of the Garter are also worn.
