Writing our history
This workshop highlights how creative writing can be inspired by paintings. Focussing on portraits in the exhibition, The Northern Renaissance: Dürer to Holbein, pupils will discover the narratives in the images and explore the themes of description, dialogue and monologue.
Key stage 2 - 5

Learning to look at portraits
This session enables pupils to examine some of the techniques and skills used to look at historical images and analyse the clues and narratives portrayed. Focussing on some of the finest examples of portraits from the Northern Renaissance, the session will highlight how the artists conveyed mood, ideas and feelings through their works.
