This cup is recorded in the Carlton House inventory of 1830. The cup reputedly belonged to Charles II who presented it to 'a Master of Queen's College', Oxford, for services to his father during the Civil War. Rundell, Bridge & Rundell acquired the cup from a descendant of the recipient c.1823 and sold it to George IV. In 1828, the cup was sent back to Rundell's for regilding.
