The Glasgow Art Club Album

The Glasgow Art Club was founded in 1867 for painters from the city to exhibit their works together. At the opening of the 1888 Glasgow International Exhibition of Science, Art and Industry, the Prince and Princess of Wales (later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra) were presented with two albums of watercolours by its members. Included were works by Guthrie, Walton and Stevenson, all members of the Glasgow Boys, a group of artists known for their naturalistic painting and realistic subject matter.
