A soft-paste Sèvres porcelain ice pail and cover, a parcel gilt loop handle on cover and two angular handles on pail; dark blue (beau bleu) ground, two painted reserves on each piece with tooled gilt scrolls. The reserves on the ice pail depict Philemon and Baucis, and the Olympus Assembly; the reserves on the cover depict Ceres learning from Arethusa that Pluto has carried off her daughter Proserpina, and Apollo tending the flocks of King Admetus. (liner missing)
