BARON CARLO MAROCHETTI (1805-67)

Albert, Prince Consort

c.1862

RCIN 45185

Prince Albert’s recumbent marble effigy by Baron Marochetti was the first such monument to a royal consort to be made since 1517. This bronze reduction records the ‘sweetness, calmness, happiness and repose’, and the ‘attitude of such ease and simplicity’ that the Princess Royal admired in the work.
