      Prometheus Bound

      1703

      RCIN 33464

Prometheus stole fire from the gods as a gift to man. As punishment, Zeus condemned him to be chained to a rock where his liver was devoured each day by an eagle. He was eventually released by Hercules. Prometheus later became a symbol of freedom from tyranny, and a representation of the artist who receives the fire of inspiration from heaven.
