In 1901 the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York (the future King George V and Queen Mary) embarked upon the most extensive tour of the British Empire yet undertaken by a member of the Royal family, visiting Ceylon (Sri Lanka), South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

The Duchess kept invitations, programmes, menus and other mementoes in a number of scrapbooks.
Displayed here are invitations to the Opening of the first Parliament of the newly-formed Commonwealth of Australia in Melbourne, and to the presentation of a welcome Address in Christchurch, New Zealand.
