The Wider World

The majority of items on display here were acquired either by Queen Victoria, who had a great interest in Indian art and culture, or Edward VII when Prince of Wales. During the winter of 1875 – 6 the future king made an extensive tour of India and was received in the highest state. He was presented with a rich collection of items, including weapons, jewellery and metalwork.
