Thomas Pelletier, one of a family of carvers and gilders originally from France, was appointed Cabinet Maker in Ordinary to Queen Anne in 1704. This table, with its fine specimen inlaid marble top inlaid with Queen Anne’s monogram at the four corners, is part of a group of furniture probably carved by Pelletier and supplied to Queen Anne for Kensington Palace. The marble top may have been supplied by John Nost, the sculptor who created the Bust of a Moor also in the exhibition.
