ALBRECHT DÜRER (1471-1528)

A greyhound

c.1500-1

RCIN 912177

This elegant study of a greyhound is drawn entirely with a brush. It is one of many sensitive studies of animals and birds made by Dürer and was used as the model for one of the dogs accompanying St Eustace in Dürer’s engraving of the saint.
