FRANK HURLEY (1885-1962)

Young King penguin in first year plumage, South Georgia

Nov 1914

RCIN 2580046

Hurley’s fascination with texture and interest in the wildlife around him is clearly shown in this photograph of a young King penguin. Its fur-like plumage and the softness of its coat contrast with the spikiness of the grasses surrounding it.
