Deck of the Endurance on the way south

1915

RCIN 2580061

Snow has fallen onto the deck of the Endurance, covering the supplies and piles of equipment. At either side are the kennels of the sledge dogs. Several litters were born during the voyage. The pups were looked after by Tom Crean, Shackleton’s Second Officer and a veteran of Scott’s last expedition.
