In 1858, after the Uprising had ended, the Swedish painter Egron Lundgren travelled to India to make a pictorial record of the event. Queen Victoria commissioned him to paint scenes of his trip to send back to her as well. This painting depicts an entertainment for British officers in Lucknow hosted by Man Singh, a former advisor to Wajid Ali Shah.
