The Book of Common Prayer

c. 1885-90

RCIN 1005106

This specially bound prayer book was given to Queen Victoria by her children on what would have been her golden wedding anniversary, 10 February 1890. Prince Albert had died nearly 30 years before. Tennyson wrote a dedicatory verse for the occasion, which was included in the hand-painted frontispiece designed by Sir Richard Holmes, the then Royal Librarian. Presented to Queen Victoria, 1890
