This set of, in total, six volumes of Wordsworth’s Poetical Works was amended and annotated in the poet’s own hand as preparation for a later edition. The poem shown is the first of the series of ‘Lucy’ poems, which Wordsworth wrote while parted from his friend Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Acquired by King George VI, 1944
