A Welcome to Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales

Tennyson wrote this ode of welcome to mark the arrival of Princess Alexandra in Britain on 7 March 1863, three days before her wedding to the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII). The original illuminations were done by Owen Jones, an English designer who was greatly influenced by classical and Islamic art. This copy contains colour lithographs of the original illuminations. Acquired by Queen Victoria
