A hand-coloured print of a group of male and female spectators within a theatre. The audience is in a state of melancholia induced by watching a Tragedy. On the right, a gentleman administers smelling salts to a lady. The print forms one half of a full plate (the other being RCIN 810352). Inscribed in the plate: Published as the Act directs Octr. 8th. 1789. by S. W. Fores N 3 Piccadilly
