MARCO RICCI (BELLUNO 1676-VENICE 1730)

A stage design: room with a balcony

c. 1726

RCIN 905883

Marco Ricci worked on two operas in the 1726 season, and this design possibly shows a Baroque salon in Nicola Porpora’s Siface. Ricci used bold architectural elements that could be easily read from a distance: the scale on the right hand side, in Venetian piedi (feet), suggests that the set was about 7 m high.
