This book is one of the finest to be printed in eighteenth-century Venice. Tasso’s epic poem on the recapture of Jerusalem by the Christians during the Crusades was first published in 1581. This edition by the eminent Albrizzi press contains over sixty illustrations designed by Piazzetta, including borders, vignettes and decorative initials. Joseph Smith was among the subscribers who helped to fund the publication in advance.
