The Colleoni Monument in a Capriccio Setting

This painting shows Andrea Verrocchio’s bronze sculpture of the general Bartolomeo Colleoni (1395–1475) situated in the Campo SS Giovanni e Paolo in Venice. Unlike the real version, Canaletto instead shows it on an extraordinarily high pedestal surrounded by imaginary elements.
