The Nusretiye Mosque, sometimes called the Tophane Mosque, sits at the water’s edge close to the Ottoman Sultan’s newly built Dolmabahçe Palace. Upon arrival in Constantinople, the Prince would have landed near this spot. The mosque was constructed in 1823 – 6 in an unusually ornate style. Acquired by the Prince of Wales, 1862
