Katlijne van Mispelteeren, The Artist's Wife

This calm, reflective portrayal of the artist’s wife contrasts with Joos van Cleve's Self Portrait. Where Joos presents himself as active, looking emphatically towards Katlijne, she is shown staring into the distance, her gentle air of contemplation emphasised by the rosary beads in her hands.
