This exhibition commemorates the centenary of the First World War, exploring the idyllic imagery of the British landscape in contrast to the ravaged landscapes of France and Belgium. Her Majesty The Queen has lent Benjamin Williams Leader's The River Llugwy near Bettws-y-Coed which was purchased by King George V in 1914, on the eve of the First World War. This exhibition highlights how the ideals of British landscape were a symbol of hope and national identity.
