Cylindrical baton decorated in gilt with hibiscus flowers and leaves. The design is inspired by the gobek, a traditional Malaysian implement used to pound leaves and other ingredients. This is a version of the baton which was used for the Baton Relay, launched by The Queen from Buckingham Palace in March 1998, for the Commonwealth Games held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1998.
