Box, in the Louis XV style, aventurine quartz with pierced rococo gold mounts and reeded edge crossed with leaves. Lid mounted with crowned 'KA' cypher (Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna) of diamonds and olivines, thumbpiece of rose diamonds flanking olivines.
Formerly owned by Grand Duchess Xenia of Russia (1875-1960), whose initials are applied to the top of the box. Grand Duchess Xenia was the sister of Tsar Nicholas II and wife of Grand Duke Alexander (1866-1933), a first cousin of Tsar Alexander III.
Mark of Michael Perchin; gold mark of 56 zolotniks (before 1896); Fabergé in Cyrillic characters
