Verso: a very faint and slight landscape sketch in black chalk. Inscribed: Wittebroek Door P: Breugel.

Lot F312 in the Abraham van Broyel sale of October 1759, where attributed to Pieter Brueghel; bought by Pieter Yver (fl.29.10 with F311); listed in George III's 'Inventory A,' c.1800, p.119 ('Dutch Landscapes'), nos. 1-38: 'Chiefly consisting of neat views of Holland the Masters names mark'd are / Verstien, Schoot, and W. Troost.'
