A hand-coloured print featuring twelve characters from different walks of life, all of whom express their opinions on the pay of William Henry West Betty, a popular child actor of the day. The figures are, from left to right: (top row), an elderly man in a nightcap, a black servant woman, a man in a frock coat and with a cane, a weeping woman, a young girl, a portly man with a cane, (bottom row) an expensively-dressed woman with a fan and feathers in her hair, an army officer, a woman holding a riding crop, a woman with a muff, a man resting on his cane with his eyes closed and a clergyman. Each of the characters comments on the Betty's pay from the point of their own experience (the words are printed faintly in this impression)
