A hand-coloured print of the Prince of Wales as King Egbert, seated in a small boat with his ankles and wrists chained. His boat is pulled by the 'Treasury Barge' captained by William Pitt who wears a diadem. He encourages four of his supporters who row the boat (Baron Thurlow, Earl Temple, Henry Dundas and the third Duke of Richmond). In the distance is St.Stephen's church, Westminster. The print refers to Pitt's wishes to restrict the Prince's powers in the event of a regency. One of the prints commissioned by the Prince of Wales to support his bid for a regency (see Matthew and James Payne, 'Henry Wigstead, Rowlandson's fellow-traveller' in the British Art Journal, autumn 2003). Like other prints made by Rowlandson for the Prince of Wales at this time, the print was published under a pseudonym. Inscribed in the plate: Pubd. by Charles Brown [?] Strand Jany 8. 1789
