Dark stained wood baby grand piano (barless). Serial no. 52674. The patent used to create this piano was registered by Broadwoods in 1888 and produced an exceptionally fine tone quality. It was discontinued in the early twentieth century, as the castings proved too expensive for mass production, but was redeveloped in 1994. The 'barless' frame avoids the breaks in the scale (string length) associated with normal cross bracing, creating a more resonant case.
