An old copy of a painting signed and dated 1680 (Christie’s 4 May 1979, no 36). A woman wearing a fur wrap and a silk skirt reclines on a rug in an interior supported by a maidservant and by a young woman who holds out her extended right arm; a man peers over the invalid's shoulder whilst a young girl weeps on the left.

Acquired by George IV before 1806; recorded in the anti-room to the Dining Room at Carlton House in 1816 (no 83); in the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace in 1841 (no 95)
