This tiny portrait is inscribed with the sitter's age (35) and the date, 1624. The work was acquired as a Thomas de Keyser. Though this attribution has not been generally accepted recently no other name has been proposed. The painting must originate in De Keyser's circle in Amsterdam. inscribed upper right: 'AETATIS / 35 / Ao 1624'
