One of a pair of oval canvases, depicting Christ (CWLF 79, 402600) and the Virgin (this one) which can be loosely associated with Gerard Seghers, a pupil of Rubens.
The painting appears in Pyne's illustrated 'Royal Residences' of 1819, hanging in the Presence Chamber at Kensington Palace (RCIN 922150).Provenance
First recorded in the Royal Collection during the reign of Queen Anne
