This is one of three copies after Dutch masters, two after Wouwerman and one after Adriaen van de Velde, probably dating from the eighteenth century (CW 258-60, 402473, 402511 and 402507). A scene at a horse fair with two horsemen and other figures in the foreground; beyond, horses and figures in a group of tents and cottages.

One of a group of three paintings (CW 258-60, 402473, 402511 and 402507) acquired by Queen Victoria in 1839; recorded in Room no 125 at Windsor Castle in 1879
